There probaby aren't many editorial cartoonists who haven't used the great Charles Schultz's "Peanuts" characters to make a point.  When I used Charlie Brown and Lucy in this cartoon, many teachers asked for reprints.  Then a couple of years later, The Times of Acadiana re-published it along with an editorial by David Thibodaux.  Again, teachers asked for reprints.
