They called it the Runoff From Hell -- a race for governor between Edwin Edwards and
David Duke. There were bumper stickers that read, "Vote for the crook;
it's important!" When reports surfaced about his Nazi connections,
David Duke brushed them off
as "youthful indiscretions."
