They called it the Runoff From Hell -- a race for governor between Edwin Edwards and David Duke.  There were bumper stickers that read, "Vote for the crook; it's important!"  When reports surfaced about his Nazi connections, David Duke brushed them off as "youthful indiscretions." Both Edwards and Duke wound up in federal prison.  Don't it make you proud? By the way, this cartoon was used in the book, Mathematics Beyond the Numbers by George T. Gilbert and Rhonda L. Hatcher, as an illustration for the chapter, "Plurality and Runoff Methods."
